KN2 Scherzo [1902]
Remarks: The Scherzo for piano, in the style of a salon piece and dedicated to Nicholas Richter, is one of the early works which is stored in the Soviet Union. It is a student work not intended for print, the existence of which Strawinsky did not mention during his stay in Russia as a precaution. Strawinsky seemed to have been very happy when he learned of the loss of these and other early works. He would have certainly not have agreed to a publication. Eric Walter White published the work in 1973 at Faber & Faber with the agreement of Vera Strawinsky. The manuscript is located in the St. Petersburg State Library.
